About Jeannie

Jeannie Lewis’s career can no more easily be summarised than she can be contained as an artist. A multifaceted singer, recording artist, actor, writer, teacher and activist, she is a vital part of Australian music history, with a career spanning more than 50 years. Blessed Unrest marks her eighth studio album, joining her award-winning debut Free Fall Through Featherless Flight and the acclaimed live recording Piaf: The Songs and the Story. Lewis sings across borders, her artistry deeply shaped by her time in South America. She has performed with musicians including Ray Price, The Necks and John McLaughlin, and toured original shows at the State Theatre, Sydney Opera House and Adelaide Festival. Her multidisciplinary production Tears of Steel and the Clowning Cavaleras opened the Seymour Centre’s York Theatre in 1975.
